31-demonstrations are held to show solidarity and support to Russian human rights activists in their struggle to defend their consitutitonal right to freedom of assembly. Number ‘31’ represents both the number of the Article of the Russian Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of peaceful assembly, and the date of the month when the actions are held. Demonstrations are held on the 31st of every month, which has this date. View fullscreen version of slideshow in Flickr.
